Last night "Himself" was admitted to the Calvary Hospital StLukes for surgery on his ear.... he has been going progressively deaf for the last 8 years which saw him spend a huge amount on hearing aids that were less than useless to him and still sit in their little case in the top draw..)mmm wonder..... do they need those sort of thing in the 3rd world countries...like they need glasses and mobile phones???)
So if you are squeamish better bypass the next two pics after this one.....

Here is the diagnosis and explanation of the condition that "Himself" has ....direct from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons leaflet "Ostclerosis is a hereditary disorder that causes progressive hearing loss. (all his family have had various operations to restore their hearing and use hearing aids)...It often begins during the early adult years..... and often affects both ears.....Ostclerosis interferes with the passage of sound to the ear so that the sound does not pass through from the outer to the inner ear... fortunately the operation called a Stapedectomy...(which "Himself" had on his right ear yesterday afternoon) can correct the problem by inserting an apparatus called a Malleus with an incus and sapes through the wall just before the cochlea and the sound passes through it and vibrates off the pin passing the sound to the ear fluids and restores the hearing ... the operation takes about i-2 hours and restore up to 90% of the lost hearing"....... which will virtually improve immediately the healing process happens and be so wonderful for him...
BUT... how does one(namely "herself" )huuuuhhh..mmmm... turn down the volume overnight that has had 10 years training at this pitch and is now LOUD ?????
if you have and answer let me know please......
The male nurse who was looking after "Himself" last night ...so well ...suggested that "Himself" buy me a huge diamond ring to wear on my finger to remind me to tone down when i forget and use my "himself is deaf" voice.... mmmm.... now that is a good idea ...but we might have to rob a bank to buy it first!!!!

Poor darling was very sick with nausea, vomiting and vertigo after the surgery as it interferes with your balance a bit and put in a bad night...but a good jab in the top of the leg before i left at 9pm of Stemetil settled the sea sickness feeling after a few hours but he did not get sny sleep because of the observations going on till early hours of the morning and the heaving up he was doing ... poor darling......so home today to sleep in his own bed... and that is what he has done all day.....
I guess when you haven't had major surgery for over 40 years it is a bit of a shock to the old system hey ????
YIkes that does look painful!! A bit of nurse Nettie attention and he will be as good as gold!!
