Things will be moving pretty fast in the next three weeks...( well that is what they are telling me anyway... i will believe it when i See it) Today i met my lovely handsome tiler at the house and he talked everything through with me as to what his understanding of what i wanted was.... so i don't think there will be any slip ups there...he did all the prep work today and will be back to start the laying on Friday ...so off to Johnson Tiles i went to pick up a box of the three different tiles i am having so that he can get things perfect.... and then "Himself" will take the trusty ute and deliver the whole lot on Friday morning early ...all ready for Mick the Tiler to start...and he tells me it takes about a week to get the two bathrooms done!!!!
OK... this is what we have so far..... all the brickwork is done the roof is on.. the gutters and fascias and downpipes are all on... the windows are all in and their screens are on(THE FRONT DOOR IS STILL TO COME... they did make it but when it came it opened the wrong way, on the wrong side.... into the house... so they have to make a whole new door...this Friday is the delivery (well promised date)... all the plaster is on the ceilings and walls and was being finely finished today... the electricians has been and made all the holes for the lights Now this will all happen in the next couple of weeks ... the matrix panels will go on the front garage side of the house and be coated in the colour finish.. the roller door will go in. the painter will come in at the end of this week to paint completely through. the kitchen carcass and laundry benches and tub will all go in on the 7th... the flooring will all go in on the 11th, 12th and 13th.. the granite benches will go on....(the granite is stilll in Melbourne and will be here early next week).. the paths will all be concreted around the house.. the fences will go up then all the finishing off will be done in that next week...
Theoretically we should be handed the keys on the 15th ..we will SEE
looking from the front of the street and house north towards the alfresco....

looking south east towards the house..(i am standing where the veggie gardens will be)

this gives you a good idea of what the back sheltered area will be like ...(come on catch the vision)....eventually i would like to have a couple of sails (or some sort of covering) out to nearly the fence as there will be a concreted area off that huge stacker door.
NOW... there is an explanation to this rather irregular shaped window...it is in the lounge area right....this is especially designed by
"Himself" so that he can sit in his chair and look out at the hills and the Western Tiers and not have to stand up to do so... arm chair beauty!!!!!! if you look closely you can see the tree covered hills reflected in the window...????
those roof tops will be eventually hidden by the hedge of Chilean Pencil Willows we have cultivated for that very spot.....

And "Himself" was very industrious on Saturday while i was helping on the book stall at Glenara Lakes Fair for a few hours... he weeded and dug then planted these pittosporums (i cant remember how to spell it) plants and then when he collected me we got a load of pine bark and He did most of the spreading as i showed off the house to some visitors who came for a look and a visit... B & C and M and M & H and little M... good to see you all and i hope you will all come and see it when it is
finished.
this bit was scary.... i had asked for a niche behind my bed and for ages it wasn't there...then all of a sudden it was...we think the builder just built another wall over the top ...so i guess the up side is that i have lovely thick walls in that part of the bedroom.... stay tuned as i have great plans for that niche!!!!!

so here is my lovely big lounge room ...well the kitchen will finish just level with that stacker door on the left on the pic there.... do you see the use that window will be put to now....????
come back soon (maybe the end of the week) for and update...
WOW!How good does it look..... hope it goes as planned xx
ReplyDeleteWOW annette!! Not long now. It's going to be beautiful. I'm jealous that it's all coming together SO fast since it got started - guess that's what happens when your builder doesn't take off to QLD! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm especially loving the garden already starting to take shape!
looking good! Enjoy the excitement of the next few weeks!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRick from Johnson's is such a character eh? You will have to let me know what Mick the tiler is like. I'm yet to find one I'm satisfied with. I can't wait to see it. Simon keeps coming back from your place all excited trying to explain some of the things you are doing and then throws his hands up in exasperation and says, 'you will just have to go see for yourself'. :)
ReplyDeleteWOOHOO!! it's getting exciting now! better start planning that house warming party nettie!!
ReplyDeleteIt's happening so fast, how exciting. Hope it hasn't been too stressfull. It will be nice to enjoy those views in the recliner, without a care in the world once you're in.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely, I am really excited for you.
ReplyDeleteLove Lorraine.

Looking good! Only two weeks to go and it will be done. Such an exciting process! Can't wait to see it all finished. xx
ReplyDeleteLooks delightful! A far cry from the floor plan you posted long long ago!
ReplyDeleteDo you know Joey Hunter in Glenara Lakes? She is married to Keith who passed April 09. She's my grandmother in law... Adore her to bits. Thought you may know her if you were at the book fair and a local.
