the plumber was there connecting all the basins and installing the bath as well as the outside taps
the painter was there finishing the painting (but there is still some to do...)
the electrician was on standby to connect the electrical items that had to be wired in... (like the Range Hood)
Just that morning the builder had cut the hole in ceiling so that he could install the Range Hood above the cook top bench before the granite benches were installed.... he had the hole cut in the ceiling and the flue installed and when he unpacked the Range Hood from its very well packed box he discovered it was crunched on one corner...so no Range Hood was installed ...on communicating with the shop where we purchased it ..we were told a replacement had to be re ordered and probably wouldn't get here till the week after Easter...
I went out to do all the cleaning myself ...thus saving the builder almost a day to clean floors and dust walls and skirting's and light fittings, wipe out all the built-in cupboards and wardrobes and clean both bathrooms ... i told the builders apprentice that he could clean the windows... i have to still take the inner fly screens off and take them outside and wash them but all the plaster dust has been brushed off them....
The most anticipated event we have been waiting for (after so many false starts and disappointments over colours and availability)was the granite benches (the granite is from Brazil and was sourced from a stock in Adelaide)... they finally came about 2.45pm...
The Bench tops came in first ...
I was surprised at how easily the installers moved that huge piece of granite (they told me it weighed about 200kilos) on that tiny 2 wheels...It actually took 3 muscle men to lift the granite up onto the benches..... (still covered in granite dust here so you cant see the amazing colours in the granite)
This bench is where my cook-top will be...
what do you think of the facing on the under side of the bench...i will have stools so that we can sit along here.... as the benches will extend out to form a area to sit at.
THEN the waterfall ends came in to be fitted at each end of both benches....
then they went out again.................
WHY?????????...... they didn't fit properly......
so they had to go back to the workshop and they will be ground back to fit....BUT it wouldn't be done today.......NOT TODAY...
I will have to wait till after Easter NOW and then it might be the end of that week by the way...
SSSSOOO the plumber who was waiting to install the sink and connect the dishwasher...and the electrician who was waiting to install the cook top and connect the power points on the end of the benches and the dishwasher's power...
both had to both go home only to return again when the waterfall ends are returned and installed...
To say i am disappointed and frustrated is a mild statement... did i stamp my feet and sook...yes but i didn't swear or slam any doors so that's a plus...isn't it????
But at least the painter was kept busy these are all the sliding doors off the wardrobes and internal doors ...all painted and standing drying in my garage...so they will have to go on Easter Tuesday when the tradesmen commence work....
I THINK WE WILL GET IN THERE SOON!!!!! Maybe...... if i don't kill anymore China men!!!!!!
oh the frustrations of building a house hey! Your house will actually be finished way before ours but I know how frustating all these 'little' things can be that set things back. Not long now!! I can't wait to come and have a sticky beak (and I would have LOVED to have come and helped you clean you naughty lady!! You should've told me and I would've been there in a flash).
ReplyDeleteOh Pooh! Awful when one thing has such a domino effect. Feeling for you darling...
