Four Funerals and a Wedding!!!!!.....

IN the last two months i have had the occasion to attend four funerals and a wedding...{see past posts}
Yes i know ....there is a movie titles "Four weddings and a Funeral" but these occasions were nothing like that movie....

Now some people would say how sad funerals are.... yes to some extent i might agree.... but i look at the funeral as a farewell to those whose have touched my life for the better and made me the person i am and for being on the journey of life with me....
Because they have had to leave me along that journey then that is the reason i am sad ...I am sad for the loss of their love and their friendship... that they will no longer be with me along the way... i have shed many tears both publicly and in private for the space now left which was once filled with their physical presence but will now hold their memories.... my life is so much richer for them being with me on my life's journey...
SAD ...yes perhaps!!! but all of these funerals were a celebration of their life's achievements and each of them left the world a far better place for being here...

This post is about the events to celebrate Molly's Life...i knew Molly briefly in person but her daughter, grand daughter and great grand daughter and the extended family have "adopted" me into their family... They have shown me unconditional love and acceptance with all my foibles and faults ...even loving me for them...{i get a bit bossy at times you know}..
Molly's farewell was beautiful with at least 400 people to remember her, pay their respects to her and to be there to offer support and love to her family...

The gathering of family and friends after the service was held at this quaint little venue at Somerset called "Two Oaks"..... it was once the site of the original Drive In theatre in the early 60's then it became a plant nursery with a tea rooms attached...but now it is a tea rooms which serves light lunches and caters for small function
Out the back of the venue are the old stables and out buildings standing the test of time among the rambling well manicured natural gardens and lawns...

wander with me....

Inside the venue the architecture is in keeping with the rustic style...open cathedral timber ceilings flooded with natural light through glass panels light wells...

Coloured medallions intricately shaped in glass spheres hung from the ceiling to draw you eye up to those cathedral ceilings....

Molly loved her garden ... the heady perfume of 200 pale pink roses drifted in the chapel  as they rested on the top of Molly's casket..

the lone guard of honor walking with the hearse along the busy main highway.....it is carrying Molly to her final resting place, look past the forefront and you can just see the storm clouds gathering out over the sea....

Molly would have been honored to know she had touched so many lives ...so much so they were there to farewell her on the next phase of her journey...

  1. What a beautiful place. I feel for you having to experience all those losses in such a short time. But as you say, funerals can be seen as a celebration, even though we cry all the way through. Funerals give us permission to grieve together, to get comfort and hugs from others and know we are not alone in those sad times. Thankfully, we know that the ones we have lost will be with our Heavenly Father, and that we will all meet up again someday...xxx

  3. It looks and sounds like a lovely tribute to Molly.
    I used to work at Two Oaks (under previous management) and we have our Brown Owls meeting there also, you were in my neck of the woods!
    I'm sorry I lost you again btw, you have been very busy! :)
