94 years young...

On Saturday we went out to lunch with gorgeous young lady...it was cool and blustery with intermittent spits of rain..but that didn't dampen the spirit of this beautiful lady..the next day, on Sunday, was her 94th birthday...

She loves going to watch the water fountains at the Launceston Country Club...yes it is a Casino but she has no hankering to play the pokies or any other form of gambling for that matter...
she does enjoy a good cup of cappuccino and a nice fresh cream cake which she enjoys each time we go there....so it was no surprise to me when i asked her where she would like to go for her birthday..her answer was The Country Club ...
after a scrumptious lunch of roast chicken we ventured out to (the outdoor area where we always sit)...to have her coffee and her cream cake.

the fountain in action...

After that it was off to visit the rellies...

yes.... they are all dead and buried here in the Carr Villa Cemetery.....

the astonishment shows clearly on her face when we show her the gravestone....

"Sacred to the Memory of
Turtle Maria (yes TURTLE....strange name huh???)
the beloved wife of
Henry Lewis...
this is the gravestone of Auntie Floss's great grandfather and great grand mother..she didn't know we had found it and was really excited to know that they both were actually here in Launceston cemetery..

here they are together... the Birthday Girl and her nephew..none other than my man "Himself"...they love each other... can't you tell!!!!

she had a lovely day(so did we)...especially after her drive in the country as well.

Wonder what we will do next year for her birthday????

  2. She is gorgeous Annette! I bet she was a stunner when she was younger :) Isn't it amazing to find the gravestones. How is her leg? Is it healing well?

When we were moving here = Madison did a search of my name and found the exact spelling etc on a grave in Latrobe - 84yrs old. She was so freaked out by it that she didn't want to move. When we ended up visiting Latrobe we found it and took pics too. It was amazing to find other "rellies" that were also there (same names etc). I would be happy to live to 84!

My Gran is 96 and visited with my parents for the past 2 &1/2 weeks - she has macular degeneration and celiacs but other than that is very switched on! It is amazing how she gets around.

Hope you have a great week!

  4. Yes, it shows.
The comfortable love. She's too sweet, Nettie. You're lucky for having her in your life. She's blessed for having you in hers.
    Love,
    T

  5. She looks great Nettie and still full of life. What a lovely surprise for her finding the grave of her great grandparents. Not many people living still visiting graves that old. Really makes you think hey! Would love to find out the history behind the name Turtle though, I'll bet that is interesting too.
