this is ROSIE'S ROOM...yes ..her new bedroom at the new house.... all timber..we think Cedar....now don't go saying it is such a shame to paint over that beautiful timber...yes i know it is...BUT...it was such a dark room which made it look even smaller...so this little girl had the most brilliant idea ...PAINT IT...she wanted it painted bright pink...(mummy was having a kitten)
of course Poppy was there on the spot and jumped right in and started to undercoat after a trip to the local hardware store... with a little help from Rosie of course..she did a great job painting her sleeping nook (Poppy was a bit big to fit in there and so was Nanna..he he)
and Mummy got into it in a big way with the roller...had to leave after this last downward stroke right here though (good one Mummy!!!)....
Poppy and Nanna got to do the rest...(mostly Poppy)
here it is all undercoated..still very streaky because the undercoat just soaked right in and it needed 3 and in some places 4 coats, to the very dry aged cedar boards...the smell was very aged forest like..sort of a wet, sappy timber fragrance..not at all unpleasant...
and after the end of the second day the underside of her sleeping nook had been painted with half strength "Tea Party" ..(yes a very, very pale pink) and Rosie even chose the colour (with a little help from Nanna that is)
Now next time we go down it will be painted over properly in the "Tea Party" and the drawers will be a deeper pink...and it will be tidied up...but for NOW...a new fresh paint job ..well done Poppy!!!
and here we are sort of moved back in.... Nanna still has to make new curtains in pale pink material with pretty ballet dresses and shoes on it ..(in the post this week Mummy)
she LOVES HER NEW PAINTED MAKE- OVER BEDROOM... ROSIE'S ROOM
Wow, what a difference a coat of paint can make and I can certainly understand painting over the woodgrain, the rooms looks bigger and brighter now.
ReplyDeleteI also love the colour, the room looks amazing.
Get sewing Nanna, I can't wait to see those curtains.
New house? Did Chelsea move? Looks like a cool space! xx
ReplyDeleteNice work...I bet Rosie will be over the moon :D
ReplyDeleteLooks way better! :)
ReplyDeleteLucky girl Rosie, such a fun room!
ReplyDeleteI think it definitely needed a coat of lightening colour. The texture of the natural boards is still there but it was too dark. Lucky little girl to have her very own interior decorator. x
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. Love the white
ReplyDeleteOf course you were right in painting it... It's still Cedar and now - in this color and with this amazing and funny accents - Rose can live in it :)
ReplyDeleteOh to grow old in a bedroom she saw becoming hers since that first brush.
Well done Poppy! Best Poppy ever!!!!
