Fruits of a spring Labor in my garden....tonight we ate scrumptious freshly picked, plump, summer berries with cream....
fresh juicy peas and broad beans..i forgot to show those...
and new potatoes...(himself took this pic and it is a bit blurry)...
how i love the summer and all the fresh produce that you can pick from your own garden..mind you i have to work to get it...the wild starlings and blackbirds LOVE my home-grown produce as well..so i have to cover all the berries and seedlings (until they get a good start that is) with nylon netting to keep them out...they still find a way to get in but at least i don't lose my whole crop ...only a few berries go to the game little scoundrels who push their way under it.... haven't got the heart to wring their necks when i catch them to let them out of the netting...if i could i would and hang them on the netting as a warning to the other would be marauders who would steal my fruit...
Live and let live they say...but does that mean i have to feed them as well????
They look delicious Annette! Hope all is well with you both.... hope to see you sometime soon.... 2013 is looking good :))
ReplyDeleteYes those Jolly black birds make a mess of the berries alright.. We are putting up chook wire over ours .. Not many blue berries this time , not sure why..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your delious harvest , well done :))
What a wonderful harvest!! I lose a lot of my figs to the birds as well even though we have netting over the tree too. Sneaky buggers!!
