Can you guess what Kristina and Jye are looking at over the fence????
What went in this Bag i wonder???? that needed to be tied up so safely?????

Why is Scott my brave neighbor high on my front porch????
YEP... your guessed it ...a very nasty little "visitor" in my front garden this morning... A copperhead snake about 2 foot long...i went to get the mail after i heard the postman's bike and saw my neighbors Scott and Kristina's oriental cat "Poppy" playing with something on the grass....i went to investigate and saw she was playing with the copperhead snake. I realized she could be bitten ...i grabbed her out of the way just as the snake rose up in the strike position...i ran to the fence and screamed out to Kristina who was on her back deck ...."Poppy " was just playing with a snake on my lawn...i dont know if she has been bitten or not"(she hadn't been luckily)......then i realized ...i could have been bitten myself...Scott came over to keep and eye on it because it was pretty agitated by now. We managed to put the recycle bin over the top of it until the snake catchers arrived. The City Council will come and relocated snakes because they are protected here in Tasmania even though all three species are deadly.....
Now let me tell you when that guy looked under that recycle bin and told us there was nothing under there....that was when we thought "oh no it has gotten away without us seeing it" but Scott went down for a closer look to make sure as he knew it could not have gotten out from under that bin because he had placed that heavy pot plant you can see on top to hold it in place...so once it was pointed out all coiled up in the 4 inch grass and it was disturbed ..... it shot out of there ...man are those things fast when they want to be....Both Scott and I headed for the top step when it came out of that grass............ i hope there are no more where that one came from.... Living with the bush behind us means we get "visitors" now and again.... this is the first time i have had to deal with one of them alive though...they have come and left their skin or gotten tangled up in the bird netting protecting the garden and died .....so this was snakes alive.
oohhh.. gives me shivers!!... yucky..
ReplyDeleteWoah, I wasn't expecting that! I didn't really think you would see snakes over there. You were brave! Lately, our cat has been coming inside at night with a mouse hanging out of his mouth. Last night, we wish we had been filming him because he threw the mouse up in the air and then swiped at it like he was playing tennis!! Hilarious!! But of course, we were too busy trying to get him to take it outside again. I hope it's not snakes next!
ReplyDeleteholy crap... yea so lucky it wasnt last week wit all the girl there. ohhhh excitement!!!
ReplyDeleteHow scary that would have been. Lucky the cat did not get bitten. Or anyone else for that matter.
ReplyDeleteSCARY!!!! It's all happening up in Youngtown!!
