...well just to let you know that an Apple Mac and me dont get along ....i think it is because i am too old to convert to a new system...so my trusty laptop came down for a holiday with Poppy .....i have been with the grand children...they have moved house so it was down to help them settle in ...OH it is not far from the old rented house ...but it was still the same amount of household good to move and settle in....but it is theirs and they can hang paintings where they want to and pull out and plant whatever they want to in the garden...you know what i am saying.....(the house is larger so i got rid of a few things stored in the garage too ...Yeah!!!!)
So today Poppy and i had a morning break and went for an adventure with Rosie to Margate(Hattie is with Grandma for a sleepover).... Margate is south of Hobart...just a little place ....but oh so pretty....
With the best pancake place ever...this little girl thought this was all for her.... she had to share with Poppy though...mind you she did eat all the blueberries and most of the icecream....
And this is where the pancake shop was ...along with a lolly shop, a second hand book shop, a second hand clothing shop for children and adults....Converted Railway Carriages that came to the end of the line here in 1987.... and just across from these converted railway carriages was an antique and bric a brac shop...i love those sort of places...
Now there was no getting past the entrance once Poppy saw what they had on offer there......
How cute is this welcoming entrance????
Just look inside.....
And i couldn't wait to look in here.....
Wish i had learned to play the piano ...this piano was begging to be played in the sunshine just outside the door...
etched glass lamps...with the light fracturing through...
from the past era when you used oil...oh so romantic......
But this was her sort of place....
(don't tell mum...we did get some gummy bears and some red jelly lips to eat on the way home...)
Oh how pretty are these ......too pretty to eat...(that's why i didn't get any )
A saying i remember hearing..."A moment on the lips ..forever on the hips...."
YUMMO........ hand made chocolates ..and the assistant told me they are going to open a shop in Queenstown on the West Coast soon too....
The view on the way back ...How beautiful is this???? and if you look to the left of the pic you will see the Shot Tower poking up into the sky....
The historical home on the Shot Tower grounds...
The quaint little tea rooms underneath the tower...
High in the clear blue sky...the Shot Tower..where they made lead pellets for shot guns...the process was they used to drop the hot lead down the centre of the Tower and it formed the balls as it cooled.
this will give you an idea of how high it is.... the little tea room is that building you see to the right...
By this time Rosie was asleep so Poppy and Nanna enjoyed the quiet ride back home...she can chatter non stop our little Rosie...but she had a great time ...so did we
the margate train does have the best pancakes! It's such a fun place to poke around in.
ReplyDeleteI love the shot tower, did you count how many stairs?? 259!!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE missed you Annette!!! Hate it when my favourite blogs go AWOL. So great that you've been helping out Dave and Chels though. Any chance, since you have your lap top, that you can find your Christmas pudding recipe....
ReplyDeleteHow strange, I DIDN'T get the original email...but I can find it by going through your archives...April must have been the ONLY month I missed!
ReplyDeleteHow did I not know about the Margate shops?? Must go there next time. You guys look like you're having a grand adventure! Wendy xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Nettie :) We love the pancake train :) First time we took our girls there our eldest cried because she couldn't eat all her pancake and told us she never wants to go there again because the pancakes were too big! Where was the lolly/chocolate shop, yum!!
ReplyDeleteJust popped over from Lisa's blog, because I saw you there, and wanted to say hi :)
