Christmas Morning at 63

5.30 am...this little girl and her big sister climbed up the stairs and got into bed with Poppy and Nanny ...begging us to get up and wake the rest of the house so they (well Darby) could open their presents from Santa...Poppy wanted to snore for a bit longer so Nanna did the talk about waiting for just a little longer till everyone woke up a bit more...so the TV went on and they sat up in our bed and watched a bit (maybe 5 minutes)of TV...every couple of minutes they asked again could they wake everyone up...Poppy said go ask your mum...the sprint from the upstairs bedroom would have been a world record i am sure....
MUM said...you can get one thing from your stocking but you have to wait till the others wake up before you open it ....
By this time Nanna was up and downstairs starting the Christmas cooking...so she kept them company ...then mummy came out and said .."go wake the others up then" ... another world record dash to the bedrooms ..
Two sleepy heads wander into the loungeroom...the paper massacre starts...along with the squeals of delight ...the OOHHHs and the AAAHHHs.....

The sun was streaming in the window...and it was still only just before 7am......

You open it Mummy!!!!

i really like this rabbit.... i do!!!

The theme this year was fairies....
Now what has Poppy got here???? "Pigs might Fly"...yes that is what the game is called...A plastic pig is placed on a pillow type foot pump and then you stamp on the air pocket and the pig flies..the aim is that you have to shoot the pig through the plastic hoop...Go Poppy....

Oh the bounty.....

and the new Hoodie

the presents where everywhere...the couch the floor and in bags ...just everywhere...
WELL THERE ARE FOUR OF US...

Checking them all out again now the paper frenzy is all over.....I think this little girl had been up too early...

This fairy chime got left behind..She hangs all alone in Nanna's porch (Well Beattie is there to keep her company)..She will go to be in the fairy garden this week though....Now that Christams is over for another year,,,we have the New Year 2010 to look foraward to .
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS....

  1. Isn't Christmas morning just the BEST - especially when your a kid. The morning takes forever to come and then your mum tell you to go back to bed and wait just a bit longer before you can open your presents!! The girls looked like they had a blast opening their presents - and Poppa looks like he had a blast playing with them : )

    Happy New Year Nettie!

  3. I love you quoting Chels- I can hear the EXACT tone of her voice. We always try to SLOW things down. Kids are allowed to come into our bed (even though now, all 4 of them are too big to fit IN our bed and kind of lie all over us) at 7- not before, then they're not allowed to open anything until we're all settled. We get "breakfast" ready and then we take turns opening one present each from our substantial stockings while everyone watches. All very systematic. Only when all stockings are done and we've had a break for some more food do we take turns getting a present from under the tree, reading out who its to and from and giving it to the recipient. As I said, we try to slow it all down. But this year even Ella said to me "you're right mum, Christmas goes too fast". Must have been so nice for you to have them all there though.

  4. That was a fabulous read - thanks for sharing. I am so in love with your lounge room. The white sofas are gorgeous - how do you keep them clean???
I love your photography here - and the way those presents were wrapped was unreal. What a shame to have to unwrap them. They were an art work unto themselves. It's easy to see where Chelsea gets her creative flair from. xxx

  5. The light in these photos is just gorgeous! Looks like a happy Christmas. Kinda freaky that it is the last one you will have in 63 Alma Street. I will miss that pretty house. But knowing that you're leaving it soon is an exciting start for you for the new year. So, have an adventurous year! Wendy xxx
