Old Farm History....

Saturday saw me making a couple of batches of scones and heading out the Nile (with my little assistant Rosie..we couldnt go as little children weren't allowed around the farm..but we only went for a little visit)to treat the sheep pooh shoveler's who were doing a service project to help fund the youth of my church on a trip to Sydney to visit the Temple....
I took my camera to take photos of the crew all working hard shoveling the little black nuggets of pooh but instead found myself gawking and clicking the amazingly historic structures  in the old farm buildings...i wasn't allowed to go beyond the fences surrounding them but my camera could...so enjoy the glimpse into the History of Tasmanian Farming out the back of the Nile.....

oh man.... i wanted to get closer to this huge pile of obsolete objects and that old tin bath brought back memories for me..... i can remember having to bath in one of those when i was a little girl ..before we had a real bathroom built inside the house we lived in....(mmm am i getting antique too???)

the sheep skins hanging under the verandah...how long have they been there...are they going to tan them for a special purpose or are they just there because the meat was used for the farm's family and  workers???

i wanted to crawl inside that little hole in that great roll of hay...it looked so inviting

one of the farm's working dogs... so i didn't get too close....he was chained up and his kennel was comfy...

And this is why we were really here...to lift up the floor of the shearing sheds and shovel the sheep pooh that had been gathering under there for 3 years...we were assisted by the Rotary Club and ended up bagging up over 700...yes seven hundred bags ...they will be sold for garden fertilizer for $5 a bag ..so if you read this and you live in Launceston...send me a message and we do deliver....

the gang slaving away...there was still heaps left to collect...we plan to go back for another service project....
