Tasmanian Colonial History......just a glimpse....

Another in the series of the history of Tasmania... yes i know....{not another old house!!!}
"Himself" and i went on a trek to the rural area at  the back of Deloraine as he had to draw some plans for an extension to this gorgeous little cottage..... it already has a front extension that had been added probably over 50-60 years ago....but the owners have been trying to find out when this original little cottage was built...we were thinking maybe the 1800's????
perhaps the chimney was added in brick later because it may have had a tin one originally.??? Plus the roof would have originally had timber shingles...

This is one of the out buildings ...see the shingle roof...this was originally the butchery as it was all lined with fly wire to keep out the flies and there were hooks hanging in the roof to hang the butchered beast from...

I so love the peeling paint work... there is something artistic about the work nature puts into the long process of the peeling...

The original window frames still intact {only just}.....

A now long empty bird nest....so beautifully created by a finch  we think....

seeing this is a little farm.... i just couldn't show you just the old buildings when there was this very handsome fella strutting his stuff... guarding his clutch flock of hens...

these beautifully constructed dry stone walls were so perfectly built by the owner of the cottage...this is his profession..so if you want a dry stone wall built contact me and i will pass on his number!!!

No farm is complete unless there is a cat ...allow me to introduce "Mango"...the marmalade cat.

Nature in all it splendor ....White lilac bushes as big as the house.... the fragrance was so heady in the rain soaked air....i am glad i never closed my eyes when i went to smell...see why???

I don't know if this is the perfect mix of antiquity and modern technology or not????...
you tell me...
i do love my visits back in time....
but i am sure glad i live in this era!!!!
