Happy Australia Day to all Australians all over the world.... Yeah!!!!
We had a n absolutely awesome day at Poatina which is now a privately owned village which once functioned as the Hydro Electric village from whence the power for the north of the state was pumped into the grid ...it was powered by the water which ran through the tail-race which you can still see today and the power station still operates but is automated these days...
the village was purchased by a Christian group called Fusion and they live there and also run it as a camp for school kids and groups...but today they opened it to the public and everything was FREE...food games (which i will show you more of in the next post)..they opened an art gallery and they have a shop where you can buy icecreams and small essentials, a recycled clothes shop, a hotel and cafe, a glass blowing work shop and artisan areas..plus loads of other facilities.... all to many to mention.... they are on the web ..so check it out ...Poatina...
proudly flying our flags...the indigenous aboriginal flag and the Australian Flag.....
and here we have a mean old Crocodile....love the look B...
Hattie went for the stylish little reindeer ...how cute is this face????
even Poppy "Himself" had to have his face painted...just a tigers mouth....
Rosie got to have a seat in the little mini moke at the very beginning...
check out that clowns hat....
and this is what they were riding in....
How iconic is this knitted jumper??????
and the little flag that we all got ...
our Granny Smith apples...we are known for our apples here in Tassie.... and the legend of how they became Australians own apple...we all got to have one to eat.
straight after the parade it was into the BBQ sausages and onions in a slice of bread on a serviette...yummo!!!!...
that is all you are getting for now ...i am so beat after a full day of FUN...
I will post more in episode TWO tomorrow...such a fun day...
Looks like a lot of fun. Love how you took in progress face painting photos. I always forget how to do them and have to make it up. I also wonder if that is our old mini moke. My step mum had a yellow one just like that when we were growing up. I loved it, and have many fond memories of going for camping trips/day trips in the moke.
