The Name..AaJ India
Where is it you ask...146-148 Charles Street Launceston....
When does it Open...the third week in March(maybe sooner if the kitchen is finished)
Intimate Authentic Indian Dining.. Top Chef's from India especially for this Restaurant...will be the best in town.
Licenced Coffee Lounge ..place to meet friends and have a snack with a difference, a coffee and a relaxing chat...
This is what is above the door as you walk in....
This welcome sign has something to do with pouring good luck onto you as you enter......so yes you are right ...it is an Indian Restaurant...... this will be an authentic Indian Restaurant with a coffee Lounge as well...all very tastefully Indian .....with a touch of Bollywood. ..seating for around 150 customers...

This is the man who owns it..Hari ...standing outside the window of the front of the Restaurant... What do you think of the window concept??? Sacha and I came up with the idea and she did it through her work DOC Signs... all the words in Indian and then the English meanings..Sacha thought of that......Neat hey???

There she is putting the transfer on the inside..
i wanted the customer to be able to see into the restaurant...we have achieved that i think???

Now you cant really see the true colours here... but they are full bodied earthy colours...rich saffron's, deep regal royal Blue, earthy ochre's, muddy Burgundy's....get the picture???all the colours of India... with the columns painted in a metallic finish to give the feel of all the brass and gold of the Indian Temples...
No flooring down here ....look further down you will see the tiles are down...
Then on those walls of colour hang these ...Ceremonial Sari's Hari brought me back from India to complete the concept.... They look Amazing..
These two rugs hang on the walls inside the doors.... beautifully worked Indian rugs...
...you can see the tiles are down here.... sandstone effect..not what i wanted but we wont go there...they look very earthy and fit with the theme ....but don't get me started on what was supposed to be on the floor!!!!!...
...the furniture is all waiting there to go ...they really are comfortable chairs ready to be set up.....

The camera on my phone (i didn't take the camera in with me...)it does not do these magnificent Saris and bead work justice... You have to come and look for yourself...

the story of Indian two lovers ...a fable of unrequited love...a sad ending ...

The Marriage story... the bride, the preparations, the feast, the dancing...
the story of Indian two lovers ...a fable of unrequited love...a sad ending ...

Hi Annette, It looks absolutely lovely! I love the sari's .... I have a black and gold one similar to those which I had made for my 40th Bollywood party (complete with Punjabi band, dancers, henna lady and traditional food!). My husband & I love indian restaurants and will definitely go. I love the window and i think you should all be really proud of the end result. It looks great! Cathy
