Deloraine Market-The Maze..lazy Summers Weekend Days

On Friday night three little people invades the shoebox....(he he that is what i call my new little house) so there was not much room to do things at the house so we decided while Mummy was taking photos at a wedding at Quamby Estate that we would go on an adventure....
we drove to Deloraine
Had a good old fashioned meat pie (that is what they wanted)on the banks of Mersey River

We met the locals...

we took off our shoes and paddled them over the weir... note that Nanna is holding onto the tshirt just in case she decides to try and hop in ....

we even paddled in the weir...the water was really cold but the temperature that day was so hot ..like 30o C

she was all on for a swim and loved the rushing water over her feet and up her legs...
The local ducks enjoyed the left overs from our good old Aussie "dogs eye" (that is slang for a meat pie... for those overseas visitors to my blog)
Just look at this tree..it is growing like that....is that amazing or what????

OHHHHH....the Tranquility of the day... we could have stayed much longer but we had other things to experienceand more adventures to experience...Like.....

The Maze at Westbury ...they took three quarters of an hour while a little girl slept in the shade of a big fir tree.... and Nanna read a magazine borrowed from the little shop there at the maze..

But i forgot to tell you about the Deloraine Market..... this was an awe inspiring stall... Antique Kimono's that were being unpicked...yes that is right unpicked...and the material sold to make whatever you want .....

here are some bolts of the silk ready for your to buy.... i checked out some of the prices and for under a hundred dollars and some up over that... but how special would that be if you wanted to make something very special....

i did a double take because it was a man doing the unpicking....

nibble unpicking fingers....well !!!!!

this was the name of the stall....

OK what is this
...... a dragon made of manure, poop and straw...with nectarine
pips for eyes...

but what was inside...look closely now

Yep WORMS... a real worm farm... you can buy a starter kit for $20 or $30 dollars and we were also shown the eggs that they lay ..each hatches about 8-10 worms and that happens very regularly so your garden will be very healthy with in no time...
NO we didn't buy one but next time maybe.... we did buy some yummy fresh crisp lady in the snow apples and the girls had a lucky dip which was very good value for money ....
What a great day we had....

  1. Interesting post. Worms give me the cringes, but the kimino story is interesting. Such patience that man must have.

  3. OH meat pies!!!!!!!!!! Yummo scrummo whack it in your tummo as we used to say. I'd love some of that kimono fabric- but I'd probably love the whole thing more.

  4. The pictures of the weir look refreshing! I tried the wormfarm-making thing once with some school kids, and after 5 or so weeks we tipped the container out and there appeared to be MILLIONS of worms! It really works! Wendy xxx
