Nanna's Miracle Stitches??????

Apparently Nanna is a MIRACLE WORKER.....{hummm...hummm pat on the back please}
but you be the judge of that when you check out the post below....

This is what it looked like after I finished......

this is what it looked like before i started....

This is a little bit of a favorite, this little cotton on dress, bought by Nanna on one of her trips to the mainland about 5 years ago for B....she handed down to H and now for the third time{after Nanna's rescue attempt hopefully to R ...BUT.... it seemed like the second hand-me-down recipient, H didn't want it to go any further...so she took to it with the scissors the last time she wore it and while she was the owner she was always getting it drawn on with felt pens and permanent textas

Sooooo Nanna worked her magic and repaired the holes .... covered the texta with old doilies. restitched a new hem and some antique lace around the bottom....It sort of looks like a new dress which is good as it makes it individual for the new owner.

some old buttons to cover up a couple of texta marks....

and now a much loved cotton on dress lives to be loved and worn by another grand daughter.....
How clever is Nanna?????

  2. Nanna is very clever and resourceful. Who would have thought you could salvage that, and indeed, many wouldn't. A bit of a masterpiece.

  7. This Nanna is the best... and turned an already sweet dress into a Austen dreamy gown.

    I'm so sorry that this tricks are falling in desuse in more modern societies... how priceless is your Art?!
