How gorgeous is this little bay at the end of Tasmania ...Opposum Bay has shacks and houses way down to the beach so that you just step down onto the beach from your front yard or your boat shed...
Now check this little bit of modern sculpture out...it was on the deck of one of those houses ...you can see it in the first two pics...a tree made of Flip Flops (or as we call them here...The Aussie Thongs!!!)....
looking back towards the south ...hence the name South Arm....the Sydney to Hobart yachts come up through this channel to get into the harbor at Salamanca...
And they have to pass this amazing home ...just sitting there on the point ...no neighbors to block their views...Amazing isn't it????
And this is why we were down there at the end of the earth....to have a weekend with this little man...Poppy is his favorite person right now... and just look how relaxed he is on his trike cruising the beach..Beattie to pull and Poppy to push..he doesn't even have to pedal...

My grandparents used to live in south arm, and we lived there with them for a year. My cousins lived around the corner and i went to south arm school. The beach at south arm is nicer than opossum bay...or t least it used to be. All my favourite childhood memories are from the time i spent there.
ReplyDeleteAnd Georgia's Dad can even remember catching the Cartella River Boat from Lindisfarne Wharf to go to Opossum Bay for end of year school picnics back in the 1950's...that and South Arm have a special place for so many Tasmanians, but they no longer grow Pink Eyes out the back...houses instead.
