Holidays North

Wow i cannot believe it has been this long since i added to my blog... i must admit that that Facebook took over my life and it was so easy to just post on there ...but
i have repented my ways and will try to journal once again ...for this is really a journal of life ..my life and the people that share it...
which brings me to these two little people...
today (11th of July 2014) we loaded up Poppy's old ute with the chicken snags{for those in other countries ..the humble sausage is called a snag} fresh bread tomato sauce, fruit to munch on after and of course some lemonade and Beattie the dog
yes even though it is a natural reserve  Dogs are allowed if in a leash...

These trees were all planted as part of an original privately owned reserve and they were being grown to make tennis racquets ..yes i know ...they took too long obviously and the wooden racquet was quickly replaced by a far lighter one made from tubular metal..so glad they left the forest as a natural (well planted natural } reserve for so many to enjoy...there is an amazing Treetop adventure that you can do as well ...all harnessed in and gliding through the treetops to platforms high above the ground on cables...haven't had a go at this yet ..on the bucket list though !!!!!

from the BBQ are looking back down the track ..

the chicken snags all cooked on the Free gas BBQ ..they were so clean as well ...

ready for our walk..mmmm fruit ...is that and apple Rosie???

Take a picture of my new gumboots that  Nanna bought me Hattie {yes in her mothers footsteps with my camera is Hattie !!!}

Love this too fast a speed one i took ..{some one fiddled with the dials before she gave it back}

the trees all bare..a different sort of beautiful...

the lichen taking over because there is not much sun to stop it...

we even found this Holly tree growing ..this is what Holly Bank is named after...

such amazing crimson holly berries glowing in a patch of sun...

just before we go through the Goblins Walk..{well we call it that anyway}

it was very fresh and crisp in the Goblins Forest

see the little reflective lights (we used the flash so you can see them...Must be so pretty on a night forest walk)

Beattie LOVED being there and was never far from her side..we didn't use the lead because there was hardly anyone else there...

the Goblins Walk.....

some fallen trees gathered by one of the many walking tracks there to be explored ..maybe not from the same trees???

that side of the tree that doesn't get much sun plays host to the lichen ..such a beautiful friendship dont you think???

Oh Holly Bank we love to come and run under your Oxygen rich canopy of so many different species of trees..crunching on the pine needles and collecting of exciting discarded pieces of nature..
Yes Holly bank we will return to enjoy your beauty and grandeur again but you will be wearing a different dress next visit we know...Spring !!!!!

  2. Amazing (part of the) World you live in, Nettie.
    I love it. You can almost feel the scent and the cold from your pictures. We have a couple of places like this close to Lisbon and I love to be there... how can we not believe in fairies and goblins when we're walking their paths? ahahahah
    Your grands are looking more beautiful every day... Rosie always playing up for camera.
    And YES, you should update the blog more often. It's not the same in Facebook. Will never be...
    Thank you for sharing,
    Teresa
