My Tasmania ... deserted places No 2

Today we went out Lilydale way for a drive....Lilydale is about 14 kilometer north east of Launceston on the way to Bridport which is on the coast.... just on the outskirts i have past this huge shed many times ...i have thought it may have been used for a shearing shed at one stage as it iseasily accessable to the road for easy transport of sheep or cattle and the area directly around it is not fenced at all .... I decided to take a walk to see just what was inside (if anything)

I was greeted with a beautiful song from two Tom Tits (blue wrens) who have made their nest somewhere in the roof ...they flittered about me so closely i had my eyes on them as i stepped into the interior.....

Before i take you in ...i looked up to the ridge of the building and spied this awesome little doorway...i stopped for a while and tried to imagine what this would have been there for...i came to the conclusion it was to hoist the hay up into ..a the loft ...as there would have been a loft there at one stage i am sure.....

to my right was this extension onto the building ...from the looks of it I thought it was a covered holding area for the cattle or sheep while they were waiting to be shorn perhaps...long since deserted with dry summer grass its only occupants now...

I walked right into the the now deserted shed and as i turned to look behind me to get my eyes accustomed to the light ...you can see it was quite a large area and had been really well fitted out in its heyday... sadly some of the flooring was no longer there but my feet made that empty ringing footsetep sound as i walked deeper into the space...welcoming but with a sad and lonely feel.... I felt this building once had lots of life which it now missed.

to my left there was evidence of it having been used since that earlier time....perhaps at some stage as a mechanics workshop... perhaps by the farmers young son maybe..... old tyres, a steering wheel, nuts and bolts all sorts of "mens stuff" just lying there as if someone forgot to come back for it....

Look at it all covered in inches of dust just...waiting ...waiting.....

The sun shone through this hole in another corner where a piece of the roofing iron was missing....did the rain beat in here when there was a storm from the south...... running down that piece of timber to the floor making a pool of water ... how long did the puddle stay there????

This is the front view you will see as you come from Lilydale on your right...the front door is filled in by timber ..no steps to climb ....no access at all.
This is the building as you see it from the road....no doors to close you out or shut you in..... i think that buildings have souls ..... this one certainly did ....from the inside i could feel it. ....
