My Tasmania..... "Cottages" No3

This is the third in the series of My Tasmania...eeeenjoy...
Lake Leake is probably 75-80 kilometers from Launceston towards the East Coast and in the Highlands.... It is just a huge Dam which was constructed to supply water for Campbell Town and the outlying districts...you can see the after effects of the lakes formation in the grey dead trunks of the once eucalyptus forrest that was sacrificed by drowning to form the Lake.... due to the severe drought conditions being experienced all over the state at the moment....the lake is very low .....hence the tree skeletons emergence..... eirey as....

The lake is a haven for the passionate fishermen though and here you see a man and his dog out there fishing for the trout that frequent the lake...rainbow and brown trout of very eadible sizes can be cought here (patience is needed though) ...you do need to purchase a special fishing licence which i am told will cost you around $32...OHHH but the benefits are scrumptious, delicious, conticious ...(if you catch any that is!!!!)

Of course the fishermen who came here many years ago when the lake was first formed and stocked with fingerling trout by the fisheries, started to build themselves very rudimentary shelters from left over bits and pieces they scrounged from building sites and heaven knows where....and this collection of quaint historic cottages have emerged... they are now iconic and are protected...still being used mind you...

This chimney is built from iron or tin and is very typical of the colonial fireplaces from the turn of the century..of course bricks took over..but the early pioneers built their chimnies just like this one.

Anyone missing some roofing iron????

Where did they get all the different bricks for this chimney i wonder???

No such thing as water pressure in Lake Leake unless you live in this cottage that is...gravity does it for you here.

And the sign says it all...... because that is all they can do up there in Lake Leake ...there is absolutely nothing else to do but fish.....
