Wooden Carved Beauty

If you are travelling the Midlands Highway during the holidays ...make sure you have a rest stop at the convict bridge rest area just after the shops...you will see the most amazing transformation of the old Macracarpa Pines stumps....i (like most of you who saw them) wondered why they left those ugly stumps sticking up so high after they cut down the pines in early 2009...

Well this is the reason....

We talked to the artist ...he truly is an artist...to be able to create such beauty...

FROM THE LIKES OF THIS....
These two trunks are destined to be created into the history of the town ...farming implements and even a plane....(that is the limb that is sticking out at right angles)
The two straighter stumps in the first pic will depict the convict history and honor the a soldiers who fought in the war....

Of course it is all done with a chain saw and and sharp bladed tools ..hence the chain mesh fence...

There is a duck, a platypus and of course the trusty farm dog, the trout to remind you that the Lakes which are just a stones throw away has some of the best trout fishing in the world and the dragon fly (they elegantly dance on the river by the old bridge)
but i wont ramble on as to the beauty...go look for yourself.....you can see the sculptures in wood up close and talk to the artist as he works..

And the dog stands guard!!!!!!
Just hope the hoons and vandals leave such art work for everyone to enjoy.....
